Civil Concrete: Footings, Slabs, Walls, Foundations, Custom Members
Simple but powerful template-based routines allow for the modeling of civil concrete structures consisting of slabs, walls, footings, piles, or any custom-defined profile, with addition of these elements to a model made quickly and easily.
Traffic Items: Stairs, Ladders, and Handrail
Traffic Items are usually the more difficult to model objects in a structure. Handrails, ladders, and stairs are made-up of various pieces of steel requiring a lot of time to model if done individually. Based on
user-definable templates, various tools are provided that enable designers to
create and place these objects speedily and effortlessly.
Decking and Grating
Grating and decking are important for the appearance of a 3D model. It's crucial to accurately depict them in rendered models, including banding around openings for safety. Displaying openings in grating with or without secondary banding is possible.
Selection Filtering
The Selection Filters tool allows the user to build a filter that will allow them
to select only the members they want from the 3D model. To create this filter,
the user can build it using Groups, Layers, and/or Object Type properties. Filters can be saved and recalled later
Weight and Centre of Gravity
A calculation of weight and centre of gravity report for the structure itself, or
a combined calculation for the entire structure including equipment and piping (when using Forte 3DWorx in combination with Forte StructureWorx is possible at any time at the click of a button.
Plates and Connections
Structural connections and plates are essential elements to include in the 3D design model, particularly to perform clash management. Users can model any shaped
plate object and a variety of connection types between structural members,
including bolts for bolted connections.
Clash Detection and Management
Clash Management is an essential feature of any 3D design software product, and is used to prevent costly construction delays due to clashes not becoming apparent until the physical plant is being built. Clash Management functionality
provides tools to help designers prevent clashes from occurring, or to remove
them if they occur as a model is being developed.
2D Drawing Production
High quality drawings help construction. Single Line steel drawings and custom drawing definitions using the Viewbox tool are possible. Bills of Material can be generated in the model and exported to Microsoft Excel for easy manipulation. BOMs derived from common steel standards support accurate procurement of steel materials for workshops or construction sites.
Integration with Aspect Pipe Stress (Formerly CAESAR II)
Pipe stress engineers can import a structure designed in Forte StructureWorx into Aspect Pipe Stress to identify obstacles and support locations without remodeling. The structural designer exports the structure as a STR file, containing primary structure elements, and sends it to the pipe stress engineer for import into Aspect Pipe Stress.
Integration with Aspect Structure (formerly GT STRUDL)
The CIS/2 Physical export includes a CIS/2 analytical export for exporting the structure to an analysis package like Aspect Structure (formerly GT STRUDL). This saves the designer time by passing the structure model to the engineer for analysis, and allows for periodic updates as the project progresses.
Integration with TEKLA®
Aspect Structure (formerly GT STRUDL) integrates with design solutions using the industry CIS/2 standard, widely used in the steel industry. Structural designers can create 3D models and combine them with piping and equipment components in Forte 3DWorx. They can then export a CIS/2 Physical Model to reuse their work in structural detailing packages, saving time and reducing errors.
