Octave Aspect Tank is used to ensure that oil storage tanks are designed and constructed in accordance with applicable international design and safety codes, which concern the safe storage and distribution of crude oil typically but can also be applied to the design of tanks used to store other flammable/non-flammable liquids.
The solution performs calculations in accordance with the latest API standards 650, 620, and 653. Analysis can also consider wind, seismic and settlement conditions - plus it can calculate air venting requirements to API 2000 Section 4.3.

Adding a Nozzle to an API 650 Tank
Inherently part of the design of any storage tank, to enable fluid
flow in and out of, are nozzles. To ensure a safe design is produce, Aspect Tank
performs analysis of nozzle flexibility in combination with external loads applied
by connected piping.
Changing the Roof Type of a API 650 Tank
Aspect Tank can design oil storage tanks with unsupported or supported cone roofs. The latter allows the designer to adjust input data and visualize the tank roof support structure in 2D and 3D.
Tank Shell Settlement
Tanks can settle into the ground due to their weight and the liquid they hold. This settling needs to be considered in the tank's design to prevent deformation or buckling. The API 653 Settlement Evaluation Report in Aspect Tank provides an assessment of this settlement movement through a 2D plot view.
Design Revision to API 653
Oil storage tanks need to be inspected periodically to ensure they will continue to
be safe whilst continuing to operate. Existing tanks can be examined according
to the rules of API 653, which checks to determine whether the tank is still
operating within acceptable limits.
