Winheat - Fired Heater Rating and Design

WINDOWS 98/ME/NT/2000/XP

Direct fired process heaters are the critical component of many petro-chemical processes. These components must be configured correctly to ensure efficiency and optimum plant performance. As it is difficult to pro-actively allocate engineering resources to such equipment, many owners and designers rely solely upon manufacturers' design and analysis suggestions.

WinHeat and its suite of routines puts the control back into the hands of the process engineer or designer.

WinHeat Thermal Rating and Analysis
Rates most direct fired heaters, convections, unfired and supplementary fired recovery units, HRSG's, and other similar equipment with tube side process.
Winheat will rate fired heaters with single or double fired tubes and handles up to seven process streams. The program can interpret process data from a grid of data based on straight line fit to duty or enthalpy fit. Most any heater configurations can be selected directly, and for those that simple don't fit a predefined configuration, the user can input his own manually calculated factors for the thermal rating.

WinBurn Combustion & Gas Properties
Provides products of combustion, physical properties, heater thermal efficiency, heat balances, supplementary firing.

WinFlow Ducting, Piping & Stack Analysis
Provides point-by-point flow analysis for duct systems such as air preheat and HRSG systems, piping flow analysis, and heater stack draft calculations.

WinLoss Insulation Heat Loss Analysis
Calculates heat loss and temperature analysis for up to 10 layers of insulation. User may add materials to data file with as few as three data points.

WinWall Wall Thickness Calculation
Calculates required wall thickness for heater tubes based on API RP530 or ASME Section I. Built-in stress curves and tables for most common pipe materials.

GridData Tube by Tube Analysis
The grid data can be setup using either the WinHeat software or the Grid Data software, and the grid data may be tested using the Test Grid Data Form prior to using with WinHeat. GridData may also be used to run a tube by tube analysis of a data set such as that for a fired heater. The program will input data from the Fired Heater Mechanical Data file, if available, or it may be input directly into the GridData program.

All calculations, grounded in API, ASME and ASTM industry standards, can be computed in English, Common Metric or SI Metric Units. Air and fuel gas inputs can be instantly converted between a weight and volume basis, and all required combustion and gas properties, enthalpys, heat transfers, coefficients and pressure losses are automatically figured.

A carefully documented manual depicts all program functions, equations, glossary and an extensive set of references.

Furthermore, data input is very easy. In most cases, the user can choose a program option or input information manually, and all data can be easily saved for later use and modification. Extensive, easy-to-pick lists include:
Physical Configurations (stack size, convection section, shield section, radiant section, flow direction, pre-heat systems, ducts, and piping)
Compositions (liquid or gas fuels, combustion air, flue gas, process data
Material Type or Specification (tubes, fins, fittings)
Insulation Specifications (up to 10 different layers)
