NEW SOFTWARE RELEASES ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ STACKDES - Stack Design Software ================================ This product covers Self Supported and Guy Wire Supported cylindrical steel stacks. Code calculations are done according to ASME STS-1, ASCE 7, UBC, AISC, EIA-222, BS CP 3, BS4076, etc. The guy wire supported stacks module handles 3 or 4 guy wires per elevation, with independant deadman locations, can determine worst directions for loads, includes non-linear effects, hot and cold stacks. The software uses a stiffness matrix to calculate design allowables, and determines stack natural frequency. This permits calculation of "cross-wind loads" (vortex shedding) and "along-wind" loads. StackDes may be leased for US$700 per year. In addition, a set of 15 spreadsheet programs can be purchased for a once-off fee of US$350. This "Stack Design Suite" includes calculation for design of stack components such as Guy Lug, Tail Lug, Lift Lug, Saddle, Base Plate, Structual Flange, Shell, Ring, Cone, Stffener, Guy Wire etc. For more information on this software, contact sales@chempute.com. It is a visual tool which is used to capture, organize and present topics in the form of "business maps". As the digital alternative to whitebaords, flip charts and notepads, MindManager offers increased office productivity through faster understanding, better decisions and reduced meeting times. Updated versions have just been released: MindManager X5 replaces the previous Mind Manager Business Edition, and integrates with Microsoft Word and Excel. This consists of lecture notes, problem sets, solutions, and reference information. One of the most noteworthy sites on the web is that of Massachusetts Institute Of Technology (MIT), which makes available as "OpenCourseWare" (OCW) over 500 courses from 33 different departments. The objective of MIT's OCW program is to provide free, searchable access to virtually all MIT course materials for educators, students and individual learners around the world, and to create an efficient, standards-based model that other universities may emulate to publish their own educational materials.
