EPCON PRODUCT UPDATES
Epcon has announced updated versions of two of their
mainline products.

SINET 5.3 (Previously Engineers Aide) Process EngineersToolbox
The winner of the 1999 Vaaler awards has been
improved again. The facelift includes improvements to the
SmartDraw Process Designer, Pipeline/Ductwork Sizing and the
THERMA Mixture Flash module. In addition a new patented
interface for the AIChE DIPPR 801 Process Design database of
1635 components (available only in the XLT and XLC versions
on an annual license basis) has been added.

CHEMPRO Engineering Suite, Version 6.1 - Improvements and
changes have been made to the Flare Header Analysis, General
Network Analysis and the Pipeline/Ductwork Sizing modules.

VESSEL COSTER 1.0
Manuals have been sent out to all our existing users. If you

please contact us. Vessel Coster is a compete Pressure
Vessel cost Estimating System that integrates with
the excellent Compress vessel design package from Codeware.

AFT CHEMPAC
Applied Flow Technologies have just released additional
Chempak related products , Chempak Viewer and Chempak
Add-in.Chempak Viewer allows the Chempak Property Database
to be used as a stand-alone application.  Chempak Add-in is
a Microsoft Excel add-in that allows a user to select fluids
and assemble mixtures from the Chempak database from within
Excel and paste Chempak fluid property functions into an
Excel spreadsheet. For more details on both of these

CADWORX/PIPE
This excellent Autocad-based 3-D pipe drafting software from
COADE is proving very popular with piping engineers and
drawing offices across the country. The bi-directional
interface to the Caesar II Pipe Stress package has proved a
great time saver and links to Microstation/Integraph have
allowed it to make further inroads into the marketplace.

CADWorx/P&ID - Process and Instrumentation Drawings
This powerful, easy-to-use program for creating
comprehensive P&ID for plant design. As an AutoCAD-based
program, it uses the latest object technologies from
Autodesk (ObjectARX).CADWorx/P&ID provides fully automated
drafting and editing techniques which save time and ensure
consistency and accuracy within drawings. Optional automatic
loop drawings can also be produced.

We came across this interesting site recently. It contains
The Expert System for Thermodynamics (TEST) from the San
Diego State University. TEST is a general purpose visual

MIXING CALCULATOR
Here is a useful on-line software tool that we came across
this month. It deals with suspension of solids, 3-Phase
gas-solid-liquid mixing and distribution and mass transfer
of gas in stirred tank reactors. You can access and use the

PACKED COLUMN HYDRAULIC CALCULATIONS
Packcol is an excellent shareware tool available for
download from our site. Hydraulic calculations for random
packings are provided either design or rerating.
