NEW SOFTWARE RELEASES
CAESAR 4.3 - PIPE STRESS ANALYSIS The latest build of
Caesar is due for release this week. This new version
includes: * Updated piping codes * Updated load case
editor * piping data input undo/redo functions * ODBC
external database setup wizard. *new code compliance report
This version will be shipped to all Caesar users with
current MUS (Maintenance agreements).
COMPRESS (BUILD 6138) - PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN
This new build is available for download from
www.codeware.com, and will not be shipped on CD. There are
three main features in this build:
* New Nozzle types - 1) tilted along vessel axis
2) Perpendicular to any vessel surface or
3) parallel to vessel centreline (e.g off-cone)
* AISC structural steel database for use in vessel
structural elements like rings, legs etc.
* Full output report available in PDF format for users with
complete version of Acrobat.
ENVIROPRO/SUPERPRO VERSION 4.5
This simulation software which is used for environmental
modelling and waste water treatment (EnviroPro Designer),
or the more comprehensive simulation suite that covers
environmental, biochemical, and batch processing (SuperPro
Designer) has been upgraded to versio 4.5. New batch
related features include Gantt chart scheduling of batch
operations, Equipment utilization charts, raw material
consumption charts, Resource allocation charts, and
Throughput Analysis / Debottlenecking graphs. New water
purification unit operations include Ion Exchange,
Activated Sludge, UV Radiation, Degasification. VOC
Emission reports, access to DIPPR database and improved
Chromatography models are also included. Process Equipment
cost estimation routines are now available for all unit
operation models.
CHEMCAD 5.1 - PROCESS FLOWSHEET SIMULATOR
Version 5.1 is now being shipped to all Chemcad users with
current MUS agreements. This new version has many great new
features, some of which are:
* VB Server enabled - allows exchange of data (properties,
units, streams etc) with VBA-enabled client software such
as Excel
* Sensitivity Studies for steady state and dynamic modules
* User specified kinetic rate expression for kinetic
reactor
* Equipment spec sheets can be generated for all major unit
operations.
* Improved packed column simulation (incl. Billet and
Schultes method)
INTERESTING ENGINEERING WEBSITES
For those interested in Tank Relief Vent Sizing, flame and
detonation arrestors, the website provided by Protectoseal
has loads of free information available. A free CD can be
requested from Protectoseal that contains software for
sizing of vents.

FREE SOFTWARE CORNER
For February, we have a fantastic new units conversion
software program, which was created by Harvey Wilson
(Katmar Software). A vast improvement on our previous free
unit conversion software, UCONEER has many more types of
units available, including units often used in the process
industry but not often found in unit conversion programs
(like heat transfer coefficient, fouling factor, thermal
conductivity, heat capacity, surface tension, viscosity,
moment of inertia, stress etc). It also includes Gas
constant units, viscosity converter, and user definable
output format. Download Uconeer from the Free Software
section on our webpage:
