CODECALC - Vessel, Heat Exchanger & Piping Component AnalysisWindows 2000/XPCODECALC contains 19 routines for the design and rating of components
for pressure vessels, shell & tube heat exchangers, flanges and piping.
The calculations are based on the latest versions of ASME VIII, TEMA and
ANSI B31.3 codes. The program now has the complete ASME II Part D database
(2000+ materials). Databases are provided for pipe diameter and wall thickness
for all standard pipe sizes, pressure vs temperature charts for ANSI B16.5
flanges, and section properties for AISC beam sections. HTML help is available
for all data entry fields. Printout of all equations and intermediate results
are available for quality inspection. A summary printout for a complete
vessel or heat exchanger may be printed. Sample calculations are supplied
for all modules. Version 6.2 routines are fully 32-bit , with interactive
on-screen calculations, and graphical display of selected vessel components
as the data is being entered. A LAN version of CODECALC is also available.
All CODECALC routines are now included in PV-ELITE as well.
SHELLS - Design of cylindrical/conical/spherical vessels and exchangers
to ASME. End types handled are elliptical, torispherical, flat and spherical
heads. The program calculates required thickness and MAWP for the given
component, for Internal and External Pressure loads. It also calculates
the minimum design metal temperature per UCS-66. Stiffening rings are also
considered.
NOZZLES - Required wall thickness and reinforcement under internal/external
pressure for nozzles in shells and heads to ASME. The program also calculates
the strength of reinforcement and evaluates weld failure paths for the
nozzle.
CONICAL SECTIONS - Internal and external pressure analysis of conical
sections and stiffening rings to ASME. Area of reinforcement and moment
of inertia calculations are included.
HORIZONTAL VESSELS - Stress analysis of horizontal drums on saddle supports
(Zick analysis). Stresses are calculated at the saddles, midpoint of the
vessel, and in the heads. Stiffening rings may be included.
FLOATING HEADS - Internal and external pressure analysis of bolted dished
heads (floating heads) to ASME. Soehren's technique is also implemented
by the program.
FLANGES - Stress analysis and geometry selection to ASME for the following
types of flanges:
Weld neck, integral, slip-on, loose (with/without hubs), ring, blind
(circular/non-circular), reverse geometry, flat-faced (with full face gaskets),
and TEMA channel covers.
TEMA TUBESHEETS - Analysis of all types of tubesheets using TEMA (7th
Ed; A-91 Errata). Calculations are provided for tubesheets extended as
flanges, and calculations for fixed tubesheets cover the effects of differential
thermal expansion and the need for an expansion joint.
ASME TUBESHEETS - Determines required tubesheet thickness for fixed/U-tube
exchangers (App. AA)
LEGS & LUGS - Analysis of vessel support legs, support lugs and
lifting lugs. A full table of 929 AISC beams, channels and angles is included
in the program.
PIPES & PADS - Required wall thickness and MAWP for two pipes, and
branch reinforcement requirements for the same two pipes considered as
a branch and header. (ANSI B31.3)
THIN JOINTS - Stress and life cycle evaluation for thin walled expansion
joints (Appendix 26)
THICK JOINTS - Stress, life cycle, and spring rate calculations for
flanged/flued expansion joints (App. CC)
HALF PIPE JACKETS - Determines required thickness and MAWP for
half-pipe jacketed vessels (App.EE)
LARGE OPENINGS - Analyses large openings in integral flat heads (Appendices
2 and 14)
RECTANGULAR VESSELS - Internal pressure calculations for rectangular,
obround, and circular vessels according to Appendix 13. These include reinforced
and stayed vessels.
COLUMN BASE RINGS - Stress analysis of skirts and baserings for vertical
towers.
WRC107 - Local Stresses in cylindrical / spherical shells at nozzle
attachments (Biljaard method) WRC297 - Local Stresses in cylinder-to-cylinder
intersections, including stresses in nozzle wall
APPENDIX Y FLANGES - Stresses in identical Class 1
flange pairs, with metal-to-metal flange contact
outside of the bolt circle (App. Y) Related Items
